“Your knee shouldn’t do that!” Comment “Knee” if you have knee pain and want some gentle exercises to try. A lot of people think the knee is only supposed to bend and straighten. While that's its primary job, your knee also has some ability to rotate. Learning how to control and strengthen that rotation can be helpful, regardless of whether you have a little or a lot of it. The first 4 exercises can be done without resistance.. Exercise #3 is sneaky. You'll feel the rotation work, but your hamstrings will also get blasted. Exercise #4 is one of my favorites for combining quad activation with hamstring mobility. Try it with or without load. The final exercise is the toughest of the bunch. You don't need a band, but it makes getting into position much easier. Use the band to pull your heel toward your glutes, activate your hamstring, then let go and try to hold the position. Stretching your hamstrings for a couple of minutes beforehand can make this one much more comfortable and may help reduce cramping.
