@louishaaa_: I wish people understood that, at a certain age you’re no longer a product of how you were raised. It’s a choice to live the way you do. #heal #hopecore
Ignore all the pity comments. You have to learn to accept responsibility for your actions regardless of trauma

I tell people this ALL THE TIME. BREAK THE CYCLE. you do not have to be like how you were raised. Make the change.

like saying a plant isn't a product of the soil it's grown in. you will always be a product of your childhood

Soooo, why you are not Elon Musk? You dont want to live that way? or are there more variables including how you were raised? Some are mental, unidentified traumas, programs that are not obvious, social capital since kid, security in youself since kid, etc. Many more variables.

You’re always a product of your lived experiences. There’s no avoiding that. Your ego might be telling you you’ve let go, but this entire mentality is a a product of how you were raised.

This is literally a fact of life and why many people choose to start therapy when they finally have the option. Yes, trauma is a lifelong battle you need to fight, but it’s still a choice you have to make to do better

I think it was George Orwell who said “after 40, you’re responsible for your face” thought being you’re young you don’t have wrinkles your face is the product of the circumstances of your birth, you get older what you do, how much you smile at the world, how much you frown at people, the kind of person you are is your choice and gets etched in your furrowed brow or shows in your laugh lines. I think about that a lot. It’s same for your waist, your posture, and to a big degree the numbers of bottles of pills in your medicine cabinet and money in your bank account. .

Yeah yet no one talks about the amount of effort it takes to unlearn bad habits that you were raised with and that’s once you find out it’s not the norm. If you’ve also been sheltered, that just adds onto it.
