Steven :
Imo only time One Piece’s goofiness backfires is Daifuku’s design. Just hate the guy. If Daifuku has zero haters, it is because I am dead.

I actually miss the goofiness. I miss the episodes where they would mess with eachother and just joke around. We're getting closer and closer to the end, a lot of shit to wrap up so I feel like we've been focusing on all that and there hasn't been much room for goofiness.

One piece deadass would be closer to a seinen if it wasn’t goofy and or didn’t have luffy as the main character💀

Luffy is too whimsy to succumb to the world, he’d rather change it. Its a beautiful theme in such a dark world both in show and irl. He needs to take care of his friends not only for them but for himself as well. He is an unshakably GOOD person.

I'm pretty sure it's goofy because this is mostly from Luffy's pov. how we see the world in the show/manga is how Luffy perceives it. it fits with the theme of his devil fruit too. kinda like a a big foreshadowing that nobody would even recognize

another smart thing oda did, is him being the sun, he travels in an orbit around the planet bringing the light to the dark world, like the sun bringing dawn across the world

One piece is goofy because joy is rebellion against oppression

It’s all facts you’re splitting facts if everything was serious then it would be hard to distinguish when it’s even more serious or less serious

Being silly and goofy is a very human thing. Characters being goofy or silly occasionally showcases dynamics and relationships better. The most beloved character now in media are the most goofy characters, case and point Goku and Luffy

Why can’t ppl understand that “good writing” doesn’t mean the characters have to be emo or has internal conflicts throughout the whole fucking series, where they spam “i’m useless”

I feel like the goofiness itself isn’t the issue, it’s how the goofiness is included in very serious situations that minimize the impact of the heavier moments. It’s more of a balancing act where I feel like there should be a longer pause before the goofiness returns.
