banker here. they absolutely can pull the money back. it's called a letter of indemnity. they send it to the bank and the back recalls the money back to sender.

😂😂 Yeah no they can get it back. My friend was forced to pay back the city of Denver because her manager over paid on PTO and a year and half after she left got a notification from them taking it to collection if she didn't pay it back
