Wasn’t allowed to participate in any after school activities because I had to come home to help with chores & siblings. Having topay bills & fill out legal documents at the age of 8 & parents getting upset I didn’t have perfect handwriting .Started working at 12 years old to help out financially & now all I want to do is just exist. Eldest daughter immigrant parents edition is not for the weak

Friends around understood I couldn’t do a lot of stuff , when my husband now , when we started dating I said I come with 2 siblings because I had to take care of them but not once to I regret it! They are my babies they are my heart .

My mom never had to “worry” abt me because she “knew” i would be ok. I dont ask for help now even when i rlyyy need it. I js figure it out by myself, and i feel like i CANT ask for help because she thinks i should automatically know everything.

… I gave my childhood to watch/take care of them .. & sometimes I don’t think they care about me now that they are older… I know they didn’t ask me to take care of them but I wish I could have been their sister not their second mom. Maybe we would be closer as siblings not as the person who was bossy/strict with them.

had to be a translator at the age of 8 because there weren't any at the specialist office for my little brothers appointments were. had to help translate legal documents, translate when my sister would skip school and teachers wanted to talk to my mom 😂. Couldn't really do any after school activities cause my mom worked second shift and dad didnt come home until about 8 or 9pm. it was my older sister my self and younger brother. we had an uncle who lived with us but he just existed just to say we had an adult at home. Now my first born is 20 years old she did swimming since the age of 2 because I never learned she did swimming for about 14 years and gymnastics for 12 years. she knows what summer camps are what it is to go to Disney even though we dont live no where near Disney. she has crossed borders many times she moved out of state for college and will be studying her junior year of college in Spain. my little 11 year old has been doing swimming for 8 years, folklore dancing for 4 years, girls scouting for 4 years and of course summer camps.

Im the oldest and i see my brothers and sisters like my babies... i remember already taking care of them since I was 10 yrs old... i wasnt allowed to do anything or go anywhere.. My mom was a single parent of 6 kids, so i had no choice but to take care of siblings 😪 i love all my siblings but it wasnt fair I had to grow up so fast and didnt have a childhood 😪
