What are you on about, Australia has so many pedestrian only shopping and restaurant promenades (they aren’t all streets) our city planners have actually foreseen and planned them into our city’s as well as making extra wide sidewalks in allot of high density areas. We are a new nation so could factor all this new knowledge into our infrastructure. Where as much of Europe is almost an ancient and didn’t factor this in to the infrastructure and now they just have to resort to converting streets to pedestrian areas due to the lack of space. Tell me how great it is for those businesses on a closed street when it’s a wet weather and people just uber to the shopfront - it’s actually a horrible concept but it’s all they can do without demolishing very old buildings.
