Just to add on to it. The earth has been hit by meteors that can leave a 5 mile wide crater and the craters are always just as wide as they are deep the biggest one being 10 miles. The moon has craters that reach more than 100 miles wide and not a single crater on the moon goes deeper than 5 miles
