The math is actually too simple here. For the US to clear $39T in debt with Bitcoin, they’d need to own the coins. Right now, the US government only holds about 200k BTC (mostly seized from Silk Road). If BTC hits $1,000,000, their stash is worth $200 billion. That covers less than 0.6% of the debt. It doesn’t even cover a few months of interest payments. For 200k BTC to equal $39 trillion, 1 BTC would have to worth $195 million. If the dollar inflates so badly that Bitcoin hits $195M, a loaf of bread will cost you $10,000, the global financial system is in ashes, and nobody is worrying about paying back treasury bonds. They aren't secretly pumping BTC to save the dollar; if anything, sovereign debt inflation just naturally pushes people into scarce assets. Big difference!
