@kanwalful: Yesterday I came across a post about Soul Sisters Pakistan and one of the comments said the group is “just a place for women to wh*re around.” Honestly, after 13 years, that’s one of the milder things people have said about this community. Ironically at almost the exact same time, INSIDE Soul Sisters Pakistan, another conversation was taking off. Someone asked women to share their professions and suddenly my feed was filled with surgeons, pilots, founders, engineers, diplomats, artists, scientists, farmers, police, entrepreneurs... women building remarkable lives in every corner of Pakistan and beyond. It made me wonder is this what actually makes people uncomfortable? Is this who they call angry and frustrated? Women who are educated, ambitious, outspoken and deeply supportive of one another. This community has spent 13 years helping women find jobs, start businesses, escape abuse, support families in need, make lifelong friendships and remind each other that we’re capable of more than we’ve been told. We shouldn’t still have to explain what Soul Sisters Pakistan is. But every now and then, it’s worth showing people who it is they keep talking about. 🤍
