I can’t believe we have to make ourselves sick in order to be diagnosed 😔

Girl, you do this experiment in the lobby of the ER or in the lobby of the lab that’s going to do your blood work. Not in your car.

It’s not new. It’s just been ignored or dismissed.

I understand the purpose of what she was doing, but it seems they should do it in a controlled environment. Like in an allergist office the way they do food challenges, so you are monitored the whole time and treated immediately if necessary.

There needs to be a proper solution to this, not just reactionary treatment. That is no way to live

Dr Claire Francomano (EDS geneticist) and Dr. Jim Harris (Allergist immunologist) just did a video on MCAS on YT. not looking to take attention away from your video at all this is useful as is your book, just thought it may provide additional info.

i never showed positive on blood tests for MCAS, but the symptoms were all there. I’m so glad I was able to find an immunologist who was willing do diagnose it based on my symptoms and their improvement on meds.

I was diagnosed through lab work 12 years ago. It took me a year or more of food diaries to figure out my triggers - artificial food dyes, spicy, alcohol, and some high histamine foods. I am followed by an immunologist who so connected to the university in my area, and on 3 meds and I manage very well now, but….. any new meds or stress can cause me problems

First to comment! You are amazing Dr.Rubin! I never had any allergies until I had my first baby (post partum) now I have skin issues, allergies, hives, etc. and this kind of feels like what I am going through as well!
