I have not been diagnosed, but I do take apart pencils and pens, although not raving, but rather repair and cleaning components, use a specific style of pen and mechanical pencil exclusively, and have autistic family up and down the tree. It didn't skip this branch I'm assuming.

I don't know if our tizzims are the same, but I was born into a family of sleeperinners, and I personally could never sleep in. So I used to sit on the front step every weekend and pull my entire bike apart, and thdn put it back together while I waited for them to wake up.

I don’t take them apart, but I do collect them and if anybody asked me if I have a pen or pencil, they can borrow I say absolutely not. I used to hoard the whole household’s pens and pencils until I went on vacation with a friend once, and my parents went through my bedroom and got an entire black trash bag, full of pens and pencils. I cried when I came home and they were all gone, even though they were definitely not mine. Just aquired from the household over childhood. 🤣

Oh I didn’t do this pencil thing as a kid but I did wrap my right arm from hand to shoulder up in soccer socks every day til I couldn’t move it so I could practice being left handed just in case I broke my right arm so I would be prepared and still able to write at school. Born right handed, learned to completely write with my left hand. Totally different penmanship too. The best was one day when this older lady neighbor asked if I broke my arm. I was so happy my sock wraps looked real. To this day a million and a half years later I can still write well with my left hand. 😅

did you have fantasies that there was an Olympics for taking them apart and the pen was one event and the pencil was the other event and people from all around the world might come and participate and you would meet someone and become best friends because of your shared love for writing utensils

I always take apart my pens. I was in a meeting at work and I was unscrewing my pen and the little spring in it shot across the room. I was so embarrassed. 😂 But I have never timed myself doing it. Lol.
