If we really can’t comprehend God, then how does anyone know they’re understanding Him correctly? How can anyone confidently claim that God is perfectly good? How can anyone defend His actions while also saying His morality is beyond our understanding? And if eternal salvation depends on knowing Him, why make Himself so difficult to understand in the first place? I Will try to help but i don't have all the answers, i think that the lack of understanding is due to a genuine lack of information on our part more then a physical impossibility to comprehend God's actions, as for the reason God makes himself hard to understand or works in misteryous ways i think those are more then one but one of them is that i am persuaded that the lord wants to reveal himself to us through faith instead of just forcing himself upon us, and he does reveal misteries about the world or even his ways as you continue to have a relationship with him and let yourself be guided, God gives us enough understanding just to take the Next step, because he wants to cultivare trust in us, as he called is the walk with him in covenant, to have a relationship with him, we don't have the understanding about everything because God wants us to trust him and experience his love not to understand absolutely everything

From St Augustine and St Aquinas: We understand God by knowing what He is not, rather than by what we think He is. For example, we shouldn't say, "God is compassionate," but rather, "God is not incompassionate." We don't say, "God exists" but that "God is not non-existent."

hi Dr Todd, I agree totally with your questions in this video. I too find it hard to understand this and have questioned God as to why he gets away with things by quoting scripture with 'My thoughts are higher than your thoughts, etc'. When I went thru traumatic grief in my life, I did question God 'what happened to your words that you are an ever present help in times of trouble?' I do not understand if this means that since God is sovereign, He can do what He pleases and does not need to abide by His own words? I have no answers. I will not tho walk totally away from Him coz I do know that He is God but I have learnt thru my own life experiences not to expect from God, if this makes sense.

Good luck challenging God when the judgement is on you. Not Him. He is the one going to ask questions like, why did you not trust Me? Why did you not seek Me?
