As someone who is both American and Thai, this tragedy truly breaks my heart. Monks often walk along the roads as part of their daily practice, spreading peace, compassion, and kindness to their communities. It’s heartbreaking that a life dedicated to helping others was lost in such a tragic way. An 11-year-old child should never have been behind the wheel of a truck. While this is a devastating accident, I believe the adults responsible should also be held accountable for allowing a child to drive in the first place. This tragedy could have been prevented. My thoughts and prayers are with the monk, the temple community, the child’s family, and everyone affected by this heartbreaking loss. I hope they can find strength, healing, and peace during this incredibly difficult time.
