I started on my spiritual journey without anything, but it was through years of deconstructing christianity and remembering myself slowly (I only say remembering because now I know that’s what it was vs then I did not lol), but for me it was weed, which isn’t necessarily a psychedelic, but opened my mind that I felt way more awakened than I ever could on my own. Then came the mushrooms, whom I have an amazing relationship with, and now, obviously it’s never “done”, but, I’m just me, being, and it’s wonderful, and I love that just by being my authentic self I keep getting the social proof that I’m changing peoples lives who are in my circle or who I come across, which are just other versions of me, of course haha. But yeah, as a self proclaimed scientist who has always had the intellectual mind of observing, studying, and figuring things out before I even knew a percentage of what I know now; I too have made the correlation that, most spiritual journeys with people start with some sort of plant substance that allows new neural pathways to develop. My almost 18 year old daughter recently came up to us and said since she started smoking weed, she feels like she’s had an awakening, and this is from a kid who like, was just Christian because it’s easy and socially acceptable (we let her find her own path in life and guide her when needed but never force her to see things the way we do, everyone is on their own path, right where they are supposed to be, I believe anyway). It was refreshing, and she was genuinely curious about our thoughts, and we both see things a little differently, but ultimately the same, it was just a beautiful moment. But I digress lol. I think that it’s not necessary to have a substance in order to awaken and begin your spiritual journey, but I do think based on my human experience of observing so many other human experiences, that it 100% is a catalyst to exponentially accelerate internal growth. But every single human is the same, but also completely different. And one part of being spiritual woke, is the ability to hold nuance, to not see things as just black and white or this or that.
