As a homeowner, if I sell - I buy in the same market. This hurts investors only

Can someone explain to me, in simple terms, another strategy he could have used to make homes more affordable for the next generation without doing this? Because everyone was complaining about high housing and rent prices and expected it to be fixed, but now people aren't happy with the fix. I feel like he was damned if he did, damned if he didn't?

Let’s be real here. Property prices are way too high and enormous mortgage repayments are a major contributor to the decline in living standards. The level of housing prices are simply not sustainable. A correction is needed, plain and simple.

it's good for young people who want to buy a home and live there!! if that couple you're talking about is living in the house and can afford the mortgage, why do they care what the value is?

Housing is way overpriced, so they need to drop back to realistic prices. So good on Labor and Albo for being brave and changing the system. Very overdue

Housing market is way overpriced compared to wages earned.. they have push the market that hard now it has to.have a correction somewhere along the way or wages doubble instantly which is not going to happen. you can thank Labor and realeatate agents for pushing the market that hard for their own personal profit.

It’s tough cookies tho? That’s the risk of buying property is you win or you lose. Albo has been trying to find a solution for people who cannot afford homes. He’s done nothing wrong.

Enough is enough. I paid $600K cash—no mortgage—and now I'm being bled dry by rates on a $1.6M valuation. The council is pocketing over a million extra worth of rates from me. On what planet is that fair?

A home is not an investment. Stop talking about value in dollar terms as though they are selling it tomorrow.
