My adhd nightmare is folding clothes. My therapist told me that there’s no rule that says your clothes have to be folded. So I have bins that I throw my clean clothes in that are separated by type now instead. I don’t fold my clothes, but at least they don’t pile back up in the basket or on my bed. If something is wrinkly, I have a steamer right by my bins. Life changing

Something that really helped me with doing dishes is the fact that it literally takes about the same amount of time as making a cup of tea. So I put the kettle on and do dishes instead of standing around waiting for the water to boil and tea to steep, and every time, dishes are done by the time the tea is done.

See the problem is my ADHD hates routine but I also have OCD which loves doing things in order. It’s basically a lose-lose situation 😭

what's helped me is creating "opening/closing shift" checklists. the same way you'd prepare for the next shift at a jon, I do for my life. for example, closing shift I prep and pack my lunch, set my supplements in my organizer and fill my water bottle, prep my dogs breakfast, pick my outfit and have my work bag ready by the door with my shoes. it honestly helps me not forget anything the next day so I'm not rushing in the morning.

ADHD pile cleaning is my favorite. Sweep everything in a pile on the ground and start picking through it to clean and organize. Gives you the same feeling as untangling a bunch of cords!!

I absolutely do it to manage my business too! The basket is so useful. I do something similar with boxes. To keep organize I have all of the specific things in boxes, also the boxes of the boxes that I go through when is too full

My issue is I can hyperfixate on getting the system set up. But will actively get anxiety about doing it or I want to do it and can’t cus brain orrrrr I forget

My ADHD wants freedom but my ASD wants intense structure. Then the OCD ruminates on why I'm an evil piece of shit for not being able to choose without going wildly between both 💀

I try so hard but then the “optimization OCD” kicks in and I have to establish the “best and most productive order” I’m so tired lol 🥲

I keep finding systems that work and then suddenly and randomly my brain decides they are NOT it. No go. Can’t broach any of it. Forbidden part of the map cannot go there.

Yes, now instead of beating myself up for not being able to follow through I just think I haven’t found the system that works for me yet in that particular situation

My systems; I set one alarm a hour before my wake up alarm specifically to take my meds and go right back to sleep. so when i wake up on my actually wake up alarm i wake up with the medicine in my system already, chemicals balanced, executive functioning already warmed up.

My system for cleaning: set a timer (30 or 60 min usually). Put on music. I can ONLY clean during that time, not water the plants, not quickly place an Amazon order…BUT I can jump from task to task, stop midway through the emptying of the dishwasher to rotate the laundry etc. When the timer goes off I have to finish anything that has been started. I am always “on a roll” & end up cleaning longer 😊

I always struggled with vacuuming, having to go get it out of the closet, untangle the cord, plug it in. 3 additional tasks and I hadn’t even gotten to vacuuming yet! Now I leave the vacuum out and plugged and istg I vacuum 3x a week now and it’s like easy???

If it works for someone, great. When the hyper fixation wears off then the search for yet another daily organization system commences. Rinse and repeat
