I hope you didn’t throw away the base of the departed alocasia. With some sphagnum moss it can sprout leaves again.

I’ve seen a creator on here putting their alocasias in just water for a week or so before fully transitioning them from soil to semi-hydro. Maybe that would help with root shock? Haven’t tried it myself though!
