Be sure you take the time to go to some of the shrines, the Shogun's Palace, the Imperial Palace. I was there 35 years ago and went on the bullet train to Kyoto for a two-day tour, and it was amazing. The shrines were awesome. I don't know if they still exist, but if you get the chance To go see the Geishas, do it! I missed the chance because myself and the people I was with didn't actually know what they do. I know there weren't very many of them back then, but if you find that chance and you can go see them, do that.
