So, actually the first movie is not retconned. What is actually retconned are the first 5 minutes of Evil dead 2. Back in the 80s, there were copyright issues and Sam raimi and his crew had to film an opening scene, that's different from the first movie. That opening ain't canon, and Bruce Campbell confirmed that. He said, that u should skip the first 5 minutes and start the movie when Ash gets thrown through the woods. Also, Ash tells pablo in ash vs evil dead about his friends and the events of the first movie. Even his sister reappears as a deadite in season 2. That means, that the book from the first 3 movies and Ash vs Evil Dead are the same book. The one from Evil Dead 2013 and Evil dead Burn perhaps is the second, and the one we see in Rise is the third. I know, that this franchise ain't doing good with continuity, but i think they can explain it good enough within the next movies. I just think that this beta i just said is the most "realistic" explanation of the events. Also, the series needs to adress how the cabin still stays in Ash vs Evil Dead, After the 2013 fire. My explanation, or my theory for that, is that the Cabin also is some kind of demon that just can't die and will alsways stay there as some kind of "spawn of evil" cause this the the place the professor first read from the book.

First Evil Dead doesn't really tie in because Sam Raimi lost rights to it to the studio and had to change things in the second one to avoid a lawsuit. So it really starts with Evil Dead 2.

yes, I came to the same conclusion from way back in the beginning of the movies I believe there was a 4th book and all of these movies will lead back to having all the books back in one scene together again for future movies

The problem i always had with army of darkness was that in the graveyard scene with the 3 books, how'd ash know the words were gonna work on THAT specific book? Like how did we decide that particular book was the real one to say the words for? Like one could also assume that with the 2 others, the aggressive behavior of them could've been a sort of security spell to protect them and there could've been something the 3rd book would've done to defend itself against thieves. And that could've been summoning the deadites cuz he didnt say every tiny little syllable.
