ive never understood why so many religious figures seem to ignore the fact that things seen as sin came from a need to survive. esting shellfish back then was deadly, so it was a sin to eat them to keep you safe. having clothes made from many animals was sinful because they didnt have the processes to gain those materials without taking life, so taking extra life for your vanity was sinful. gay relationships may have been sinful but purely because they didnt result in life to help the human race survive. of course self committing was a sin, it was so you you may fear the results so that you dont commit.
