I am a hospice nurse and care for many patients with dementia. I cannot tell you how incredibly beautiful and heartwarming it was to hear you talk about your grandmother and being her caregiver. You will never regret this time, no matter how hard it can be. I was also my grandmothers caregiver when I was in my 20's and oh how I wish I could go back.

I took care of my grandma from 18-29. She lived to 91, outlived 4 kids and 3 husbands. She was incredible.

I’m 40, not early 20s, but my job is taking care of mine; it’s the best decision and the greatest gift to spend so much time together 🥰

I watched my gramma unexpectedly die of ALS 4 years ago. It took her from us within 3 months. Seeing you and your vava is what my grandma and I always talked about for our future when the day would come that my papa passed. I always reassured her that I would take care of her. We would talk about how she would live with me and we would be unstoppable. Instead, I’d do her nails and beauty regimen for her because she couldn’t anymore. I’d laugh with her, make plans for our next visits, discuss the upcoming spring and our plans for her gardens. Sadly, she never saw spring. This healed a little piece of me knowing someone out there is getting that. Thanks for sharing. I miss her immeasurably.

As sad as this seems for a 23 yr old, you are so lucky to have her this late in life. I only had my Vava for 10 short years. I’m so glad you chose to take on this adventure!!

Unfortunately my nanny went to a SNF for her worsening dementia before I could graduate and get home… so when I moved back home I got a job at that SNF so we could spend every day together! 👩🏼🐰👩🏻🫶🤍

spending time with our grandparents so one of the greatest gifts. Caretaking is truly another level … not something most people our age understand. I lost my grandma in 2023 and she truly was the most special gal. I pray she knows how much I loved her and that she can replay the time we spent together. Sending you hugs and absolutely LOVE / am so grateful for you sharing with us
