former GS employee here, what I was told back when I worked there was "scalpers won't buy us out since we already upcharge". genuinely had people walk out once I told them the prices, and I don't blame them. my store still had at least 9 of the giant Mega Charizard UPC box by the time the store shut down.

GameStops not an authorized Pokemon retailer, they buy from pokemon center and they pay above msrp and make us pay it also and they pay for shipping etc and insurance on the package so we have to cover it

I think it was Valkirae doing a live stream where she said that she used to work at a GameStop and although they present themselves as a retailer, they are more of a gaming pawn shop. So of course things aren't going to be fair

I’ve only ever bought a box from GameStop once and it was last Christmas as a present for my brother before I really knew what the prices of etbs were 😭

As a current GameStop employee we don’t have a direct contract anymore. The problem of not having stock was because we would only get 1-3 items of each Pokemon item when we were using Pokemon Center. The Execs swapped vendors to get more product and it comes with the price of increased prices. I hate it as much as everyone but Ryan Cohen “has” to afford EBay somehow. Also for legal reasons I was not here
