@charityky: Disembarkation day on a Royal Caribbean cruise can feel stressful, especially if it is your first cruise and you are not sure what to do with your luggage. On the last night, you’ll usually receive luggage tags for regular departure. If you use them, you place your tagged bags outside your stateroom the night before, and the crew takes them off the ship so you can pick them up in the terminal the next morning. But you do not have to put your luggage out. You can choose Self-Assist and keep your bags with you instead. This can be helpful if you want to get off the ship earlier, have a flight or drive to get to, or just prefer to keep your luggage with you. Just remember that if you keep your bags, you have to carry them through the ship, elevators, breakfast, the gangway, customs, and transportation yourself. #royalcaribbean #firstcruise #cruisetips #cruiseplanning #disembarkation

I am doing this for the first time when I cruise later this month. Hoping it will help with my disembarkation anxiety.

What’s the latest we need to actually leave the ship? Like how late is breakfast?

Exactly what we do! We get off around 8am usually (or before the crowd gets bad) walk straight off with out carryons/ backpack/ 1 big suitcase at most. My husband will use his 💪 and carry it down a few flights of stairs if he needs too! 😂

We just finished Navigator of the Seas. Highly disappointed with age of ship, maintenance issues, food quality.....never again.

I did the airport transport last time through royal. I put my bags out the night before, only to stand inside the terminal for an hour waiting on my suitcase to come off the ship. Even though my transfer ticket said 9:00, I didn’t get my luggage until way later.

It sucks that cruises end so early, why don’t they dock at mid day, this way you can maximize the day before.

Self assist is so much easier! Next cruise I’m taking a carry on and backpack only. I took way too much stuff!

What if you do an excursion on depart day? We’re doing the alligator tour at Miami after our cruise.

If you put your bags out the night before how are you supposed to get ready in the morning? We have a family of 4 so we’d have to stuff everyone’s pajamas, toiletries and makeup in a bag and tote it around. We usually travel with all checked luggage because it’s just less hassle with kids. What happens if you don’t put your luggage out the night before?

Going on an Alaskan cruise and we have a very late flight on disembarkation day and will be touring Seattle before going to the airport. Do you know anything about the option to have our checked airline bags sent to the airport from the ship for us?

First time cruiser and I leave on Sunday. I have a flight at 4:30 in the afternoon after I leave the ship should I self assist or let them take my bags off?

Doing 2 royal cruises back to back…and never cruised before. I am assuming the disembarkation customs & the embarkation security/check in etc area are not too far from each other? I’m going solo and have some vision issues (not blind just new, big spaces can be stressful) so I am trying to prepare as best I can

Are the lines to disembark very long at 6:30? Or try to disembark earlier for shorter lines?
