sort of a tangent but this also applies to more mundane things like going out to eat. i had some older family members complain about their food not getting served fast enough or about a restaurant seeming "too run down" when everything was... pretty normal 😭 if it doesn't fit their immediate expectation it's deemed "bad" and that's such an unfortunate way to approach the world

That’s why I hate travelling. I value my physical comfort very much and I don’t feel any of the experiences are fun or wonderful.

Please ask a person before going on a trip with them. For example I cannot stand sand due to my sensory issues. If you did not talk this through before hand you cannot be mad at people for things they cannot control.

I agree but you also have to know your companions. with some friends you can travel through thorns and fire, with other friends you can have a comfortable vacation. with some you can do both. you don't have to limit yourself to one experience or stick to a few friends, none are objectively more valuable. some people want to unwind in a laidback manner while others in an active adventure

In my 20s all of my friends were quantity over quality travelers and we just had to stop traveling together. They all wanted the cheapest possible food and accommodations and transport because they planned 20 trips in a year. Good for them. Not my vibe.

Yeah I’ve realised I am that person. I don’t care for sightseeing, I prioritise convenience, and I don’t view travelling and seeing places as an ‘experience’. I used to think I wanted to travel because everyone else romanticised it and was part of their life goals- and then realise that I think it’s boring and tiring. No need to pretend I’ll like it cuz everyone else is doing it lol
