Today I absolutely fucking lost my shit as a parent. For months, the behavior at home has gotten progressively worse. Screaming at us. Destroying things. Getting violent. Refusing basic requests. Acting like every boundary we set is some horrible injustice being committed against her. And today my 10-year-old looked me dead in the fucking eyes and flipped me off because I asked her to do something she didn’t want to do. That was it. I walked into her bedroom and removed EVERYTHING. Toys. Electronics. All of it. She has a bed and a dresser. I even took the fucking door off. And before somebody comes in here with “have you tried—” YES. Gentle parenting. Positive reinforcement. Consequences. Therapy. Medications. Conversations. Giving choices. Trying to understand what’s underneath the behavior. We have been dealing with this for YEARS, and the last few months have pushed me to a place where I genuinely don’t know what the fuck to do anymore. The fucked-up part is that I was raised knowing exactly what would’ve happened to me if I behaved this way. My ass would’ve been beat. But I refuse to do that to my children. So here I am trying to break that cycle while also raising a child who currently seems to believe she runs the fucking house. I’m angry. I’m exhausted. I feel like a shit parent. And I am completely out of ideas. So if you’ve raised a kid who saved their absolute WORST behavior for home and you actually came out the other side of it, PLEASE tell me what the fuck worked. #ParentingTweens #TweenMom #ParentingStruggles #RaisingGirls #RealMotherhood
