I could be wrong, but I think this is because it was a genuine shock. He had pretty much everyone in that villa fooled. They’re not immediately coming for him because they’re still trying to figure out what his actual intentions were. In that moment, they’re processing the realization that someone they trusted might actually be a terrible person. They’re also trying to convince themselves there has to be some explanation for why he acted like that because nobody saw it coming, and I don’t think anyone in there truly believes he doesn’t like Mela 😩 they don’t see what we see
