I’m so exhausted by the time I get home I just want to sleep but then I stay awake because I feel like I haven’t had enough down time/me time to recover from the day haha then I’m more exhausted

Yes. On the drive home I’m trying to process how I have to rewrite the whole day in my shift notes, incident reports, medication charts, mileage the whole thing. 😭😭 So even when you leave. Your job isn’t really done 😩 it’s not for the weak.

I worry about even driving home afterwards. I can’t think straight. I often fall asleep once I get home, I need a nap

What I found what helps for me and depends on the day: Drive home with music I like or in silence, I go home, have a shower, read a book / play a relaxing game or have a nap, do dinner, watch a movie / show in bed and on my phone, set my alarm for the next day and go to sleep.

I have adhd so I’m already dis regulated 😂 having a work bestie and driving my car fast or disappearing for my entire day off is the only thing that helps me 😂

Agencies should be offering this kind of support to help their SWs learn how to regulate/deal with their emotions after long shift etc which would also help with providing better and safer care for their clients since they do have the knowledge because not everyone is aware of their emotions or how to deal with them. Unfortunately I’ve only worked at one agency that offers this type of training and inservice everyone else just sends their online modules which rarely anyone reads through 🫠
