I wish people actually goto school or do some actual research. Nominal, PPP or PPP per capita all measure different things. It’s like comparing distances vs volume or area. Nominal GPD measures global financial power, PPP measures living standards and you don’t really use per capita for nominal or PPP because large percentage of population don’t produce anything like kids, retirees, etc. It is generally used to fudge numbers make reports pretty.

economist here: amen. using ppp on total gdp will get you roughly ranking by population. ppp says something only when you adjust for the population. Reason is simple: ppp says how well you are doing if the prices are adjusted. But prices dont care how many people are living in a country

How do you calculate PPP. Was it by using BIG Mac burger prices compared. You should also compare the health care service cost. An MRI or ambulance ride in US is 10X more costly than in China. If China health care service is sold at US price then health care component alone of China GDP would worth $20 Trillion

GDP per capita (per person) is important. --- You need to look at the productivity (kind of) of a country🤔. --- One example: China made 34,000,000 cars in 2025. US made 10,000,000 cars in 2025. But China is 25 times bigger than US --- If we are going to compare the time it takes one American to pay for a new car versus one Chinese... better not to compare! ---- However Europe and China are a decades ahead at the health access for the normal population.

Also if you look at nominal GDP China is 73 Russia is 64 and India is 147. Palestine 148 (measured for 2026). Palestine is 50% rubble and they still rank it as better off than India on average.
