do you know the old idea that it's rude to ask a lady her age, yeah that was to hide the fact that grandpa was decades older than grandma, it was always just to save his ego when his own kids and grandkids realised

My grandfather had a whole other family in a different continent that he had left, didnt talk to, support or tell anyone about. He died when my Mum was still very young and I didn't exist. There might have been an age gap with my grandmother but I am not sure.

Yet, conservative women want to go back to the "good old days", trad wives. They really need to research how men really treat women and children. All they have to do is watch some of those real life movies, like the Burning Bed and A Cry for Help, etc.

👏👏 exactly. My great-grandmother's final request was not to share a grave with the monster she was legally tied to in life. Nothing clean about those generations. His sons insisted they wished to remember him in a "positive" light regardless.

The worst marriage is where a woman is not hugged, kissed nor loved, just SA’ed continuously in the name of marriage… the only thing that can make marriage possible is love.

My great grandmother was 13 married to a man in his twenties until he died. My mom thinks it’s a great love story, I think it is a horror.

I worked in a nursing home. I never once saw any of the women express grief after their husbands died. In fact, they were overjoyed and couldn’t wait to tell everyone what a POS the man had been.

My maternal grandparents met the day she arrived in London from Ireland at the start of 1947. She asked him to go out with her and her sister that night, and they were together from that moment on. It was her that decided they were getting married (and when), they both worked (including working together in my parents’ primary school for many years, him as the caretaker and her as the school matron) and they shared household chores and childcare equally - my grandad had absolutely no issue whatsoever cooking meals, cleaning the house, or pushing the pram down the high street - rare in the 50s, but he never gave a damn what anyone else thought. She passed away in her sleep aged 62 from a massive heart attack, and my grandad never got over the loss, passing himself ten years later. Theirs was a true love story.

My grandfather was physically abusive to his wife and children. He cheated on her and actually moved out and lived with some of his mistresses. He was a good catholic man who didn’t believe in divorce. She spent the rest of her life married to a man she hated. She died surrounded by her family. He died alone.

My grandpa and grandma were intimate every night, even through her breast cancer chemo and radiation, and went in the backdoor when she was tired. He admitted to that in the last weeks of his life.
