The US has a very big left-over culture and food sharing culture. So most of our foods are portioned as if there is the expectation that we're going to either share it with the other people at the table or we're going to take it home with us.

Nothing wrong with the portion sizes. I am an immigrant and I am in love with USA portions. I eat 3 days out of one meal. I absolutely love it 😋
