@monstrofarm: I reuse my plant runoff water…but it’s not what you’d expect. Have you ever looked at the water draining out of one houseplant and thought, why not use it on another? It sounds like a great way to save water, and to be honest, I’ve done it many times. The only thing I try to keep in mind is that runoff isn’t just water anymore. As it passes through the soil, it can carry dissolved fertilizer salts, minerals, and tiny soil particles. If that runoff comes from a plant dealing with root rot, soil-borne diseases, or pests, there’s also a chance of moving those problems to another pot. Because of that, I’m a little more selective about when I reuse it. If I do, I usually give it to larger, healthy, well-established plants that tend to be more forgiving than small plants, fresh propagations, or anything already under stress. And I avoid reusing runoff from plants that appear unhealthy or have known pest or disease issues. Does that mean reusing runoff is always a bad idea? Not always. Like many parts of plant care, it depends on the situation. I just think it’s worth understanding what’s actually in that water before making it a habit. The more you understand why something works or doesn’t, the easier it becomes to grow healthier plants. #plants #houseplants #plantcare

I reuse the water with the theory of "does this grow beside the ocean in nature" and "is the pot big enough i would need more than 1 watering can to water it properly" 😆
