@strumforge: one of the best ways to make your solos sound more interesting is to stop thinking of scale shapes as isolated boxes. once you recognize how the same intervals repeat across the fretboard, you can take a single blues lick and move it into different positions without losing its identity. in this example, i’m playing the same idea in multiple areas of the a minor blues scale. adding the blues note gives each phrase a little extra tension and attitude, but the concept stays exactly the same. changing positions is an easy way to make a solo feel more dynamic without having to learn a bunch of new licks. the key is thinking in intervals instead of patterns. when you understand where the root, minor 3rd, 4th, flat 5, 5th, and minor 7th repeat, the fretboard starts feeling connected instead of looking like separate scale boxes. a fun exercise is to come up with a simple 3 or 4 note blues phrase, then play that same motif in different positions while keeping the rhythm the same. it’s a great way to build fretboard awareness, and you’ll quickly realize how much variety you can get from one small musical idea. #learnguitar #guitarpractice #guitarlessons #chordprogression
