Might just be my opinion but I like how fallout NV is slower. you pay more attention to surroundings. you notice more details in the world and sometimes find things you wouldve missed sprinting by. so much content in FO4 just gets left behind when you're tunnel vision sprinting to your destination

Fallout 3 and New Vegas just don't need you to run, the world and atmosphere they have are just perfect and walking is the best way to see that world. Fallout 4 is just an boring, ugly, ass world where running is the only way to prevent you from throwing up for seeing that ugly ass world.

I have a mod that has sprinting but idk which one it is, I didnt specifically add a sprinting mod. but it sucks tho, you sprint super fast but only for like 2sec at a time until your AP recharges

newer Bethesda games with the sprint function is definitely an improvement, but when I play new Vegas I don't even miss it. the walking pace kinda feels perfect to me
