The basic concept is called volatility decay. If an asset drops 10% then gains 10% it still has a loss. Leveraged ETFs also suffer from roll decay where closing the frontend and opening the backend produces a loss.

I’m trying to wrap my head around the daily reset. This seems just like a % thing to me. Bigger % loss, deeper starting number the next day. A % of a larger number is a larger loss. How does the “daily reset” play into this?
