Im very curious about treatment-did they let you see your baby during that three week treatment time?? And do you feel like it would be worse or better if you could have?

She was completely failed by our system. As someone who suffered from PPP, she should have NEVER been left alone, for the safety of her and others.

So many problems with our current health care system! She reached out for help multiple times. She was discharged from inpatient treatment but was still obviously unwell and adequate supports were not put in place. So tragic 😭

I am currently 6 months PP and struggle with PPD/PPA and knowing how I thought and felt at the height of that moment and knowing she was begging for help and was failed should be a huge wake up call. Women’s health needs to be studied, prioritized and actually treated.

I hate how hard it is for a mom to get a break. No one takes you seriously when you are falling apart. It’s so hard and no one wants the inconvenience of mom being unable

She told Patrick later that it was like a dream state as soon as he left the voices told her this was her chance. She is she felt like she was outside her body.

I was hospitalized for 3 days and 2 nights. I didn't have suicidal thoughts but I had the rage, depression, psychosis and anxiety. this is my first baby and I've never dealt with mental illness so it was a WHOLE new ballpark and it was insane!!

Thank god you had the brains to get help. She was a professional nurse and knew exactly where to get mental health care in a state that has the best education and heath care in America ..

Physicians, especially OBs, need to do more for postpartum! There just isn’t enough postpartum awareness or resources 😭 I cried out for help to my OB office on a Thursday and they left me on read until the following Monday. I almost went to the ER but self medicated with low dose Ativan to get through instead 😭

I would have crazy thoughts during my PPD and they felt so real! My heart breaks for that family. She was failed by doctors.

I completely agree! Obviously no one would excuse the choices she made and the outcome, of course. I do, however I think this is an absolute tragedy for her and for all women who have experienced this or not. She was asking for help repeatedly she was overmedicated and not managed by mental healthcare professionals and was still placed in a position where she was constantly potentially putting herself in others at risk. It’s really sad and at some point our country needs to place a greater importance on mental healthcare services and the ability for us to access Good mental healthcare services in our country. This is sad for everyone involved.

It’s just awful. My Mom went through something similar, her medications (which were similar to what Lindsay was on) made her violent and believe that people were spying on her. Luckily she was under medical supervision and they slowly weaned her off that medication while putting her on another. She wouldn’t sleep for days like Lindsay. Just so many people failed her and her kids.
