Offsides should be 70% of the players body past the last defender. That would be a clear indicator for refs and players to easily identify because it’s more than half the body. Not a toe, a shoulder, or just a butt cheek because how will the attacking player even know that their big toe is offside. It kills the momentum of the game having nearly every goal be reviewed as offside.

For anyone saying that the offside rule should be scrapped it’s a bad idea because it could just mean strikers and attackers would just come in the opposition box waiting for the ball and would lead to easy goals and would make the game completely unfair and unregulated

Worth mentioning that with the new Trionda balls at the WC they now have sensors in the ball. This gives the ability to have “snicko” like Cricket. This allows VAR to know when the ball was actually last touched or kicked instead of relying on freeze frames. Fun fact: they also have to charge the balls now 😂

What puzzles me is why the defenders are going closer to the goal, giving the offense opportunity for an onside? If that is the case the defenders just have to stay as far away from the goal then it’s always going to be offside.

IF not for this rule soccer would be huge in america, if im understanding it right this rule makes it 99% harder to score goals. because if i just am good enough to run past everyone and make it one on one with the goalie and score why can’t I? the score would higher but it would be a SUPER entertaining game
