I love your content and I’m so glad to see you guys enjoying the island bc it is such a magical place to call home💗 I also really feel the need to make a PSA for ppl that may not be as safe or vigilant as you seem to be... If you do this, please make sure your children can swim/that they are wearing a life jacket and keep a rope attached to the float that you hold onto at all times bc they WILL catch a strong breeze and they will be nowhere in sight in a matter of minutes! You will not be able to swim fast enough to get them back, the water may not be as calm once it gets deep and a lot of the beaches in Oki are isolated so often times there is no one around to ask for help. I had the misfortune of witnessing this first hand when we lived there. Two small children on a unicorn float were playing next to their parents in Okuma Bch and their Dad desperately tried to swim after them and couldn’t catch up. Neither of them could swim. The ENTIRE Bch participated in their rescue! Someone ran to get a lifeguard w a jet ski, ppl on paddle boards paddled out, women gathered on the beach with the wailing Mom to pray for their safe return. It was one of the most helpless moments of my life. The little girl fell off and a random paddle boarder found her and pulled her out of the deep water and I believe she had to be resuscitated nearby on land. The little boy also tipped out of the float and remembered to float on his back (something his Mom had just taught him days before) and he was rescued by jet ski. We had brought our brand new giant sea turtle float that same weekend to the cabin and I went right back and deflated it and put it in the trash. So please remember to take the necessary precautions bc it could happen to anyone💗
