Emmy part 3 of 3! When Emmy went in for her amputation surgery, we were expecting a long, difficult recovery. Instead, it felt like a weight had been lifted. She was doing things she’d never been able to do with 4 legs by the very next day. She may have lost a leg, but she gained a freedom she’d been missing, and watching her sprint full speed down the beach with the biggest smile on her face is something we’ll never forget🥲🌊 If Emmy taught us anything, it’s that dogs are so much more resilient than us humans haha! When we found her, everyone saw what was wrong. The broken leg, matted fur, the fleas and fear… but Emmy never seemed to focus on any of it. She just embraced the life in front of her. Maybe that’s the beautiful thing about dogs. They don’t spend their lives thinking about what they’ve lost. They make the most of what they have💛 One of the hardest parts of rescue is saying goodbye. We loved Emmy so much, and of course a part of us wished we could keep her forever. But that’s never been the goal. Our mission is to help these dogs heal, learn to trust, and discover just how beautiful life can be, so they’re ready for the families they were always meant to find and we can go find the next pup who’s out there waiting for their chance to shine🥹 Today, Emmy lives in San Diego with an incredible family🌞💕 They don’t have a social media page for her so, unfortunately there’s no page to follow her journey, but we’ve been lucky enough to visit her, and we plan to every chance we get. Watching her now, you’d never guess how her story began. And maybe that’s exactly the point. Where you start in life doesn’t have to be where your story ends🐾🫶🏼
