Network engineer here. I watched that game last night (never watched a World Cup game), when I saw the VAR thing on screen the first question I had was “where are the units of measure? Is this time? Pressure? Momentum? What am I looking at?” The graph doesn’t clearly state what it’s tracking and it flies in the face of my what my eyes and cameras saw.

before we even get to the technicality of the ball and the sensor, VAR was never created to be looking into every single minuscule thing but to correct wrong decisions. the way it's being used now it's wrong

so theoretically if the touch was so small that the balls trajectory never moved it means that it likely just grazed hair. if the chip is that sensitive whats the say it wouldn't pick up touches from hitting a bug in the air that could be mistaken for touches that didnt actually happen?

I didn’t need the Chip to see that that player was offside. He was a full 3 feet off side, and then he came in and touched the ball. That is offside every day all day and twice on Sunday.
