Hi! This is a bit of a random question here but I was wondering if it’s useful to do independent research and get it published in a journal. I don’t think useful is the right word but I just mean in the context of college apps. Lastly I’ve read a few published papers and some don’t have mentors, I understand it’s pretty hard to get a mentor and I was wondering if that harms credibility in your research even if academic standards are met.
