@rmntamina: For a long time, I only saw what chronic illness had taken from me. The fact that there isn’t a cure. It felt like my body had become something I was constantly trying to fix. But somewhere along the way, my perspective changed. I look at the medication I used to resent and realise it is the reason I’m still here. I look at the body I had spent years criticising and realise its carried me through things I never thought I’d survive. I still wish my body worked differently at times. But gratitude and grief have learned to exist together. I can miss the health I lost. And be deeply thankful for the life I still have. My body has never been perfect. But for more than a decade, it has never stopped fighting, trying to keep me as healthy as possible. And I don’t think I’ve thanked it enough for that.
