Five below employee here it’s because the counter scanners had a big issue in double scanning items or people setting things ontop of the reg and accidentally scanning something thats why the covers are there

Yes we have those but you are not supposed to use them that’s why the cover is there 😭💀 corporate wants everyone to use the price guns

I’m a manager there! My store doesn’t actually have the scanner on the counter installed so it’s just a piece of glass covering nothing 😭. I believe the cover is there to limit confusion of where the scanner is

yes. they use to use them but thedt went up so they stopped using them. and for the stores that do still use them the cashier comes right beside you and scans it for you, which completely defeats the purpose of self checkout. at least thays how they did it in the county im in.

Same first time I went, all the self checkouts were closed and they had ONE open with a cashier to check everyone out. It was a long line 😩

In my city they only have like 3 registers open but they still have the scanners 😳 But the employee kinda hangs around

I have never seen it before because we used to use the other scanner before 😱, but now after seeing this it’s really gonna help those who check out faster than the original way 👍
