@kenyankalasingha: The multiple heritage of the Sikhs of East Africa A Sikh is one who lives by the distinct way of life called Sikhi; a Kalasingha is a Sikh of Kenyan heritage and upholds Sikhi’s basic identity of a turban and long flowing beard - and who has been accorded that title of honour by the Maasai - one of the original forty-two indigenous tribes of Kenya. Sikhs are neither Hindu nor Muslim. They have their own beliefs, principles, language, script, scriptures and identity. That is what defines the Sikhs, who stand apart from the other two faiths that they are often confused for - but remain connected to both in common history and land as originating in the once undivided Punjab.
