@therealtoroflagosltd_: The truth is, two things can be true at the same time. The Coastal Road is a massive infrastructure project that could transform Lagos and Nigeria At the same time, communities like Ologolo, Ikate and Oniru are dealing with flooding challenges that deserve attention. In this video, I break down what we saw on the ground and from the air: • Why the streets around the Coastal Road floods now because the coastal road sits higher than said surrounding communities . • Where floodwater is flowing. • Drainage channels that lead nowhere. • And how blocked drains and poor waste disposal are making the situation worse. We’re not choosing sides. It’s about understanding what’s really happening. What’s your experience if you live or work in these areas? — 2026 | THE REALTOR OF LAGOS LTD™️
they should have make a passage drainage under the coster road to cross water to the other side, so the water can flow into the lagoon, that a poor engineering issue

Olamilekan :
Boss, I think we should leave the Coastal Road out of this discussion. You have already identified the main issue, which is poor waste management and inadequate drainage. Long before the Coastal Road was constructed, many parts of Lekki experienced flooding during heavy rainfall.

I'm sure the road has it own drainage system.
water from the road will not end in the community

the coastal road is meant to have tunnels linking all street drainages to the Atlantic.

flood is a normal thing every year in the whole of lekki down to Ajah.
nothing connects the costal road with lekki flood.

OBJ in 2004 was the first head of state to reject a proposal to build the Coastal Road. He said it would be a very expensive project as such a road would be AN ELEVATED BRIDGE STRUCTURE THROUGHOUT ITS ENTIRE LENGTH. How right he was.

No solution, it’s to level the area and sandfill

They should make passages for the water below the coastal road. This is the first video showing evidence of a possible flooding caused by the coastal road.

Please can you show us videos of that area before Coaster road you funny brother the water is even more than this before the coaster road

Mr.Ben :
The engineers did a bad job, the houses being below sea level is a very big fault. Roads should have been before development . drainage needed urgent

unless u show images of similar seasons of previous years, ur conclusions are subjective...no elevation data review, no seasonal peel offs, only anthropogenic factor..oga which kind research be this???😳

PLEASE SOMEONE SHOULD EXPLAIN

Do you really expect the engineers to build the Coastal Road at the same elevation as the surrounding streets? That would defeat the purpose of the project.

Larry :
I live in the area, from my perspective the problems are:
1. houses where built below sea level. the right level for any construction in lekki area is 2m above sea level which is the coastal road height.
2. lack of social responsibility from hitech/fg to communuties along the coastal road. even some local existing roads and drainages where destroyed or cut off.
2. hitech/fg not considering existing drainage system interconnection thereby cutting off their access to canals on the other side of the road

This is ologolo e don dry sef, the costal road contributed a lot because there was a canal there before but they build the costal road in the canal and they didn’t channel the street gutter to the drainage that was built under the costal road so there’s no where for the water to go

Water floods in these areas before the coastal road anyway! I think improper waste disposal is 90% of the cause.

You’re analysis isn’t just wrong it’s also misleading, this area has always been flooded before the costal road. This road has a drainage system underneath. That project is a multi billion dollar project.

Gentle :
The major causes of the flood are climate change and rapid urbanization; other causes are secondary. Lagos as a low lying area (lying below sea level) is prone to pluvial and fluvial flooding. There is an urgent need for coastal protection measures

PinnacleCreation $Construction :
The level of the coaster road is much more elevated above the natural ground level with no proper drain to discharge water off the natural ground surface…this elevation resulted toa long span of barrier serving as retaining wall.
