@hossam_elyamani: Should architects still design through sketching and model making? I often ask myself this question. I always find myself returning to hand sketching and physical model making. For me, sketching is more than a way to communicate an idea—it’s a way of thinking. It is one of the most human acts we have practiced for thousands of years: observing, imagining, and giving form to our thoughts through our hands. No matter how advanced our digital tools become, I still love sketching and building models throughout the design process. Again and again, I find myself drawn back to them. They slow me down, sharpen my observations, and allow ideas to emerge naturally. #architecturestudent #sketching #architect #architecturedesign #architecture

Yes, I definitely believe architects should start by drawing before moving on to the digital phase. Personally, whenever I encounter a design problem, I instinctively reach for a pencil and start sketching instead of trying to solve it directly in the software. As one of my architecture professors used to say, “Let the idea pass through the tip of the pencil first.”

Guys, with all due respect, I'd like to ask how you create a good 3D model from an architectural plan? 😭

the process of ideas on minds traveling through hands is something no amount of technology could ever match !

in a very busy studio where the timeliness are tight, I have had to learn to design on the screen think and create while drawing. it was turned into a skill that's vital

Most of building started on small piece of paper, I do not wait to go to drafting table though. Reminds me of good old days of the power of pencil and thoughts with sketch, Nostalgic I get. But these days numbers becomes a shape and output..! Cheers and Thanks.

I am not an architect yet, just graduated from school, but I have been coming up with ideas and designs my whole life(not buildings but it doesn't matter)
I know how to use CAD and Blender, but they are made to create based on a plan. To come up with that plan, you've got to take your idea and put it on paper. Drawing and sketching your ideas is the most "direct" way from your brain to real life visualisation.
There is no reason not to, it's more convenient and faster anyways😀

why not both drawing exaggerates the creativity of new ideas without fear of messing up completely and models demonstrate the 3d and the complexity of an architects mind showing flaws and details that can be used to improve or construct a new and better model
