For a hospice nurse to get to THIS point, it must TRULY be dangerous. Hospice nurses are saints. Absolutely the best amongst us. Full support to you.

BUT THE ONE THING I DO NOT THINK IS helpful to put it on social media matter of fact if the family members happen to see or hear about this this could really upset them I would think share this information with your supervisor not on social media

Absolutely request a discharge and SPECIFY the son as the safety reason so other Hospice agencies know UP FRONT.

Sounds like the family needs to get on the same page. Not everyone has the ability to respect the wishes of the patient and it’s the family’s responsibility to manage their emotions for the best interest of the loved one. I’m sorry you were treated this way.

Hospice is a blessing. I would’ve been so lost without the kind hospice nurses when my mom passed. I’m so sorry. Be safe!

My Daddy is currently on hospice and I could never imagine treating his care team horribly. That makes me so sad. You are a very special nurse and for what it’s worth I appreciate you ❤️

When a family is facing the end of a loved one's life, it is entirely expected for them to experience a volatile spectrum of emotions, including anger, grief, confusion, and fear. As healthcare providers, anticipating and navigating these difficult emotional responses with composure and empathy is a fundamental part of our role. Maintaining strict professionalism during these challenging moments is essential; these families do not possess our clinical background and are simply trying to cope. Publicly addressing these situations or actively attempting to compromise a patient's access to hospice care directly contradicts our duty to support families through this process. If managing these complex emotional dynamics with patience and grace is not feasible for you, it may be worth reconsidering whether hospice care is the right clinical specialty for your career.
