Logic basically has never even entered the chat 💀 English spelling was fixed around year 1500, so any sound changes after that are not accounted for in the spelling, which is why it's such a nightmare 😭

my last straw was Kansas and Arkansas. after finding out that you do NOT pronounce them the same i knew English has no rules, no structure and no logic. It is just the way it is.

I consider myself fluent in English and French and I always said that in my opinion French pronunciation is easier than English. Because if you learn which letter combinations are pronounced in what way, the different accents and the exceptions, it makes a lot more sense. In English I feel like that’s not always the case
