@stillbecomingmama: there is a moment that happens sometimes in the middle of the hard nights where you step slightly outside of yourself and observe what is happening and what you see is almost funny except it is also not funny at all. two people crying in a dark room. one of them very small and new to the world and doing it because that is the only language available to her right now. one of them considerably larger and doing it for reasons that are harder to articulate but no less real. both of them just needing something they cannot quite name at an hour that has no good answers. i had that moment of watching myself from the outside and instead of it making me feel better it just made me feel more alone. because from the outside the scene was just me and a baby in a dark room with no audience and no resolution on the way and nowhere to put any of it. and then i looked at the dots. and the outside view shifted completely. because the scene was not just me and a baby in a dark room. it was me and a baby in a dark room and hundreds of other moms and babies in hundreds of other dark rooms all in the same moment all doing some version of this same thing. and from that angle it looked completely different. it looked like something humans do. together. in the dark. because they love someone and love is not always quiet about it at 3am. #postpartum #newmom #postpartumsupport #momlife #momtok
