In trucking, the best decision I ever made was requiring upfront payment. My logic is simple. If you want me to invest my time, capital, and resources into your project, then you should also be willing to share some of the risk. If you genuinely believe in your deal, putting money down shouldn't be a problem. Upfront payment filters out people who are serious from those who are simply making promises. It protects cash flow, reduces unnecessary risk, and creates accountability from day one.
