@apskenya: 𝐂𝐋𝐎𝐒𝐔𝐑𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐉𝐂𝐓𝐓𝐀𝐓 𝐏𝐑𝐄-𝐃𝐄𝐏𝐋𝐎𝐘𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐒𝐄 𝐍𝐎. 𝟐/𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐆𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐍𝐒 𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇 𝐊𝐄𝐍𝐘𝐀–𝐔𝐊 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐏 Today, 3rd July 2026, the Principal Deputy (PD) to the Deputy Inspector General, Administration Police Service (DIG-APS), Dr. Masoud Mwinyi, MBS, OGW, HSC, SAIG, alongside the Deputy British High Commissioner to Kenya, Dr. Ed Barnett, officiated the closure of the JCTTAT Pre-Deployment Course No. 2/2026 at border police training campus-kanyonyoo Delivering the speech of the Deputy Inspector General, APS, Mr. Gilbert Masengeli, CBS, OGW, SS, Dr. Masoud underscored the importance of such specialised training in addressing operational capacity gaps through strategic partnerships and collaboration. He noted that the knowledge and skills acquired during the course should be translated into practice to enhance mission effectiveness. He also acknowledged the dedication and sacrifices made by officers in safeguarding the nation's security, emphasising that their commitment does not go unnoticed. In his remarks, Dr. Ed Barnett highlighted that the training is being delivered under a five-year strategic partnership framework between the Governments of Kenya and the United Kingdom. He noted that the collaboration has strengthened the long-standing relationship with the Border Police Unit (BPU) and will continue to enhance the capacity of officers to effectively address evolving regional security challenges through professional skills development. The four-week course covered key areas including tactical intelligence capability, medical resilience, marksmanship, Counter-IED awareness, and defensive capability. Speaking during the ceremony, the Regional Counter-Terrorism Coordinator, Lt. Col. Kenny Craig, reflected on his operational experience in Kosovo, Afghanistan, Sierra Leone, Ireland, Kuwait and Bosnia, among other missions. He emphasised that proper training, coupled with the effective utilisation of available resources and equipment, is fundamental to mission success. Drawing from his experience, he noted that he has never lost an officer during an attack throughout his operational deployments, attributing this achievement to rigorous training and disciplined execution. The ceremony was attended by the Commandant, BPU, Mr. Davies Lomwatu, OGW, HSC, SAIG; the Host Commandant, BPTC, Mr. Kiplangat Chirchir, AIG; the Deputy Commandant, BPU, Mr. Edward Achola, OGW, AIG; among other senior officers,and partners.
